About

"I am made from the soil and the air feeds my fire. Today I’m a tree, my lower body rooted, my upper body sunkissed, moving like the water flowing through. I grow, play, invite and create. Together we are a forest, as our roots are holding hands."

Alexandra Loembé (1997) is a Congolese-Russian dance artist. In 2020 she completed the Dance Teacher training at the Academy for Theater and Dance. In addition, she further trained at Ecole des Sables (Senegal), with Boukje Schweigman (Schweigman&) and the SNDO (ATD/AHK).

In addition to following her path as a new maker, Alexandra is active as a dancer, performer, teacher and interdisciplinary artist. • Vision and exploration

Alexandra Loembé is influenced by both African and European contemporary and urban dance, multisensitivity and curiosity. Her creations are deeply rooted in connectivity with nature and the world around us, while simultaneously allowing people to re-experience their inner world. Characteristic of her work is her tactile, associative, intuitive, and playful approach. From the depths and darkness of personal themes, she illuminates collective life experiences. Her performances lie at the intersection of dance and interdisciplinary work, interacting with the present moment and inviting the audience to reflect on the present, past, and future.

As an artist of the African diaspora, her interests lie in identity, symbolism, anthropology, botany, ecology and physical geography, exploring the interconnectedness of it all.
